Fun Facts and Kimberly M Miller
Excerpt "Forgiving Tess is a Christian romance that has a strong message for readers. The basis of the story is forgiveness—obviously—but there’s also insight on judgment, progression, and even true love. As a Believer, its easy to look at someone and judge their sins, especially when we think someone else’s mistakes are worse than our own. But Miller makes it clear that sin is sin: period. It doesn’t matter if you’re a liar and someone else is a murderer—both of you are equally guilty in God’s eyes."
Book Review: Forgiving Tess
The Diamond Mine "As Christian writers, we long to share God’s love, goodness, and grace with others through our writing. But quite often our stories speak to us as much as our readers. How did God use this story to help you stretch and grow as a person?"
KMM "Tess struggles with forgiving herself as much as the fact that others haven’t forgiven her. Working through all the ways she needed to let go and accept the freedom of forgiveness was an excellent thing for me."
#TuesdayTreasures with Kimberly Miller
KMM: "Although my friendships have grown and changed over the years I look fondly back to these times when I learned that storytelling wasn’t only important, it was as essential to me as breathing. Now my friendships often allow me to share my stories before or even immediately after publication. I treasure these wonderful people who encourage me to do what I believe God intended for me all along. And of course, I’m especially grateful to my friend Vanessa who opened up the world of storytelling for me in such a fun and exciting way."
"Kimberly Miller takes the concept of just how far we extend forgiveness and how do we know someone truly has repented and put away the sins of the past. Even for Christians, it can be far too easy to judge someone based on their past than it is to accept their attempts to live a new, godly life, in the here and now."
... Kimberly M. Miller has written another romance and I am honored to have her as a guest on my blog today. She is a writing and film professor by day, author by night. She enjoys watching movies, making jewelry, and creating fun stories for her readers. Currently, Kimberly has two published novels, Picking Daisy and Forgiving Tess, but she looks forward to bringing more romance your way soon!
She's offered us all a treat today--an excerpt from Forgiving Tess. The book already has many wonderful reviews. So sit back, relax, and enjoy.
Why do you write the kind of books you do?
KMM: I love storytelling and have since I was young. The books I write are the kind I want to read—they have what I hope are strong, interesting characters, who face difficult situations with a smile and faith to keep them going.
Where did the inspiration for your latest book come from?
KMM: Forgiving Tess is inspired by several areas but I’d say the biggest influence is the recognition that we all have a past but that God knows it already and is bigger than any of it. Once we’re forgiven, it’s done. But that isn’t just us forgiving others or others forgiving us either. It’s US forgiving ourselves too.
Looking Out The Window: Writing and Film Professor Kimberly Miller Shares The Story Behind Forgiving Tess
KMM: At first I found this to be frustrating. After all, this was not the plan I’d made for this novel. But of course, it quickly became apparent that God wanted this story to be told His way, not mine. As writers it’s tempting to cling to the reins of the story we want to tell, intent on making it take the shape we see. What I found in writing Forgiving Tess was that letting go made her story stronger, and hopefully more encouraging and helpful to my readers.
